Locale
Part of the text environment. Defines language-dependent and country-dependent characteristics of characters, such as the sort sequence or uppercase/lowercase conversion. In Non- Unicode systems, the locale attributes depend on the operating system of the current application server; in Unicode systems, they are defined in a library which is independent of any operating system.
